After recording a new record low of 16 new cases yesterday, the number of new cases have increased to 37 today. This brings the total number of cases in Malaysia to 6,779.
There are 58 new recoveries today and total number of cases that have recovered and discharged is 5,281. Unfortunately, there are two new deaths reported and the death toll is now 111.
The first death case is a 30 year old man that was found dead in Rompin and it is currently under police investigation. The second death is a 90 year old man that’s admitted in Hospital Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Johor and has a history of hypertension and chronic respiratory disease. The overall recovery rate currently stands at 77.90% while the mortality rate is 1.64%.
The number of total active cases have declined to 1,387. 16 patients are currently in ICU while 4 require respiratory support.
Out of the 37 new cases, there are 20 new cases from the Pedas cluster in Negeri Sembilan. There are 2 new cases from the Madrasah Solok Duku cluster, 2 from IPT Sabah and one each from Benus, Pesantren, Selangor Mansion and Sendayan clusters. The Pedas cluster alone has a total of 151 cases and one case has recovered so far. Meanwhile, there are also 4 imported cases reported today.
As of 12pm yesterday, the number of red zones have dropped to 8. There are 4 red zones in Kuala Lumpur, 2 in Negeri Sembilan, 1 in Selangor and 1 in Sarawak. Meanwhile, there are 72 yellow zones and 121 green zones nationwide. Pulau Pinang, Perlis, Kedah and Kelantan are fully green.
According to the Ministry of Health, the R0 in Malaysia as of 12th May is 0.3. If the R0 exceeds 1.0, it is a sign that Malaysia needs to take drastic action and this could include stringent movement control order measures.
