Pricing starts at RM2,799 for the base model with a 10th Gen Intel Core i3 mated to 4GB of RAM, with the range-topping model powered by a Core i5 processor going for RM3,299. You do, however, get double the RAM at 8GB.

There’s also a pre-order promotion from the 13th of May till the 15th of May 2020, with the first 50 customers for each variant (100 in total) eligible for gifts worth up to RM1,000. Acer Spin 3 specs

First, let’s talk about Acer’s lightweight convertible. The Acer Spin 3 weighs just 1.4kg, and features 10th Gen Intel Core processor options—i3 and i5. For graphics, the Spin 3 uses Intel’s integrated Iris Plus Graphics or Intel UHD Graphics, while you have configurations of up to 8GB of LPDDR4 RAM to choose from.

For storage, you get a single choice of a 512GB SSD, which can be upgraded; connectivity-wise, you’re looking at WiFi 6, 2.2MU-MIMO, and Bluetooth 5.0—which is about par for a 2020 laptop.

Acer’s aim with the Spin 3 is to combine “flexibility, portability, and performance” with the body of the device measuring at 16.9mm for thickness. The most interesting aspect of the Spin 3 is, of course, the different modes that it can be used in: “tent mode”, laptop, tablet and display modes. The 360-degree hinge has also been designed to ensure that the speaker of the laptop is always front-facing, regardless of which mode it’s in.

Plus, the company has also included the Acer Active Stylus, which has been designed with the help of Wacom AES. This, according to Acer, means that the stylus emulates an actual pen-and-paper feel, with the help of 4,096 pressure levels.

Of course, this also means that the Spin 3’s 14″ Full HD IPS display is a touch display, which can be best utilised when in tablet mode. Additionally, battery life is certainly decent, with Acer promising up to 16 hours with the help of a 65W charger.

Acer Swift 3 specs

Meanwhile, the little brother of the Acer Swift 5 is now available in Malaysia: the Acer Swift 3. You now have a choice between AMD and Intel processors: the new AMD Ryzen 5 4500U, Intel Core i5 (1035G1), and the Intel Core i7 (1065G7).

Only the range-topping model has a discrete GPU, with the Intel Core i7 variant coming with to the Nvidia GeForce MX250. The i5 version uses integrated Intel UHD Graphics, while the AMD Ryzen 5 version naturally uses AMD Radeon Graphics. Also, it’s worth noting that only the i7 model has 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM, with the Ryzen and i7 versions relying on 8GB of DDR4 RAM.

Similar to the Spin 3, the Swift 3 features a 14″ Full HD IPS display, although you don’t get a touch display here. The latest wireless standards—Wifi 6, 2.2 MU-MIMO, and Bluetooth 5.0—are supported, while the Swift 3 features USB-C, USB3.1, and USB2.0 ports.

Meanwhile, estimated battery life for the Swift 3 amounts to just 11 hours for the Ryzen 5 model, with Intel-powered variants promised to have up to 16 hours of battery life.

What do you think? Would you prefer the convertible form-factor of the Acer Spin 3 over the more conventional Swift 3? Let us know in the comments section below.
