MCO: Yoodo users must now manually redeem their Free 1GB data daily

Starting from today, the 5th of May, Yoodo users will need to redeem their Free 1GB daily as the mobile virtual network operator has changed the way it disburses free data in the remaining days of the MCO. Previously, Yoodo offers the free data automatically as long as you have an active plan but now they are giving the free data as a 24-hour pass.

To redeem your free data, you must first update your app to the latest version. On the app’s home screen, there will be a new section called 1GB COVID-19 Bonus and you’ll have to tap on it to redeem the free data. Once you’ve activated the offer, the free data will be reflected on the Yoodo app’s home screen along with the validity period.

Apart from the manual process, the biggest difference is that Yoodo users can no longer accumulate free data until the end of their billing cycle. This means any unused data from the pass will automatically expire after 24 hours and it won’t be carried over to the next day. This offer ends on 12th of May and there’s a possibility of further extension if the MCO is extended.

Although this isn’t as great as the initial offer, the free data is still valid for 24 hours while the validity of free data from other telcos is between 8am to 6pm. If you need more data, they are offering 20GB of data for RM20 which is quite a bargain. Alternatively, there’s a Power Pass option where you can get 100GB of data for 1 hour at RM2.
