Selangor introduced “SELangkah: Langkah Masuk dengan Selamat”, a visitor registration system to help manage the spread of COVID-19 during the conditional movement control order (CMCO). It aims to support registered businesses or commercial premises by giving them unique QR codes that can be placed on posters at their establishments to be scanned by customers.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said that SELangkah will address the new norm for the public having to present their contact information before entering any premises to help public health officials with contact tracing. It will enable business and the state government offices to track visitors through a digital log, to allow quick contact tracing just in case a visitor tests positive for the virus.
“Premise visitors are asked to scan the QR code posters, by using the camera function on their mobile phones, either before entering the premises or when making a payment, depending on the arrangement of the owner of the respective premises. Through this initiative, all visitors to the premises can be reached and is easily contacted,” stated Datuk Seri Amiruddin.
For customers who might see SELangkah being used by premises in the near future, here’s how to go through the scan method, step-by-step:
The SELangkah method is quite simple, as you won’t even need to download a separate app besides a QR code scanner if your phone doesn’t have one already. Amirudin also said that the digital approach could help boost efficiency, unlike manual pen and paper registration.
If you’re a business owner and are interested in applying for your own QR code, you can click here to visit the SELangkah website, or selangkah.my.
