COVID-19: New cases drop to 55 today, no new deaths in Malaysia

The number of new COVID-19 cases have dipped below 100 today as the Ministry of Health has reported 55 new cases. This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 6,353.

Fortunately, there are no new deaths recorded today and 71 cases have recovered. At the moment, a total of 4,484 patients have recovered and discharged, and the current recovery rate is 70.58%. The current death toll is 105 and the current mortality rate is 1.65%.

At the moment, there are 1,764 remaining cases that are currently receiving treatment. 28 are in ICU while 13 require respiratory support.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 7 imported cases today, while the remaining 48 cases are transmitted locally. Meanwhile, a new cluster has been identified in Sarawak as the BDC cluster in Kuching, Kota Samarahan and Simunjan. They added that 37 have been confirmed positive and it includes 7 recoveries and 2 deaths. The ministry says that the source of infection is from the Seri Petaling cluster that has infected three generations.

From the latest update by the ministry, there are now 9 red zones throughout the country as of 12pm 3rd of May. There are 62 areas categories as yellow zone and a total of 86 areas are now green zones. Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan and Perak are fully green.
