MCO: Jogging and selected outdoor activities are permitted starting Monday

The Malaysian Prime Minister has also announced that selected sports and fitness activities will be permitted from the 4th of May. This includes non-contact sports such as jogging and badminton.

In his Labour Day address, he said that outdoor sports activities that don’t involve body contact and large gathering will be allowed. This includes playing badminton or tennis without spectators. Jogging, cycling, golf and running in a small group of not more than 10 people are permitted provided that social distancing is practised and physical contact is avoided.

He added that activities such as football, rugby, swimming and all forms of indoor and stadium activities are still not allowed.

At the same time, the Prime Minister reminded that all forms of social, community and cultural activities which involves a large number of people are still not permitted. This includes open houses, concerts, shows, assembly, opening ceremonies and private events. The same rule also applies to religious activities. All prayers and gathering at places of worship are still not allowed during the movement control order.

In case you missed it, restaurants may reopen for dine-in customers starting 4th May but must adhere to social-distancing and contact tracing requirements.
