TM has introduced a special postpaid plan for students with its Unifi Mobile Student Pack. For RM59/month, the plan comes with unlimited calls, SMS and data, and there’s no upfront payment required.
The plan is actually quite similar to the RM99/month Unifi Mobile postpaid plan that is currently offered for RM59/month. It offers unlimited calls and SMS for domestic numbers and unlimited data.
The plan also comes with 10GB of hotspot data which is applicable for LTE coverage. If you need more, you can purchase a 2-hour hotspot pass for RM6 or 1GB hotspot at RM15. Unlike the consumer RM59/month plan, there’s no 12-month contract for the Student Pack.
To sign up, you’ll need to validate your student email which typically ends with “.edu.my”. TM will then send you an access code and you can use that to proceed with the sign up process. The Unifi Mobile SIM card will be delivered to your address within 1-5 working days. As always, TM recommends that you use a 4G smartphone that supports Band 5 (850MHz) for its network.
If you want to keep your existing number, you can do so by porting it to Unifi Mobile provided that you’ve settled your existing bill. It’s also stated that a CTOS credit check will be performed when you sign up for the plan.
According to the FAQ, the student only plan is offered for students studying at selected institutions of higher learning. Some of the eligible universities and institutions include UITM, UTeM, UM, UTM, UNIMAS, UniKL, OUM, UTP and Malaysian Flying Academy. You can check out the full list here.
