iPhone SE 2020 might come with more RAM than the iPhone 8

The iPhone SE 2020 is currently Apple’s most affordable brand new iPhone. It retains the same 4.7″ iPhone design with a home button and it runs on the same A13 Bionic chip as the iPhone 11. According to a purported spec-sheet, it appears that the new iPhone SE could handle multi-tasking better than the iPhone 8.

A retailer in China had allegedly revealed the iPhone SE’s RAM and battery capacity. According to the list, the device is equipped with 3GB RAM and a 1,821mAh battery.

As a comparison, the 4.7″ iPhone 8 only came with 2GB of RAM while the larger 5.5″ iPhone 8 Plus comes with 3GB of RAM. Having more RAM would benefit power users especially in handling intensive tasks which include rending 4K videos on iMovie. The iPhone XR also comes with 3GB RAM while the newer iPhone 11 devices are now equipped with 4GB RAM.

Although the 1,821mAh battery seems small for today’s standards, it is worth pointing out that iOS devices are quite frugal compared to its Android counterparts. On top of that, the new A13 Bionic chip should be more power-efficient and we reckon it should squeeze slightly more battery life than the iPhone 8.

On Apple’s website, it claims that the iPhone SE lasts about the same as the iPhone 8. On a full charge, it is rated to last up to 13 hours of video playback or up to 40 hours of audio playback. Similar to the iPhone 8 and newer iPhones, it also supports 18W fast charging but you’ll need to purchase the USB-PD power brick and USB-C to lightning cable separately.

Do note that these spec details are not verified yet and we will know definitely once someone has performed a full teardown of the iPhone SE. The iPhone SE is priced from RM1,999 in Malaysia and we reckon that it should be going on sale in the coming weeks.
