Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid was the former Education Minister from 2015 to 2018. Prior to that, he was the Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water from 2013 to 2015.

TM’s current chairman is Rosli Man and he has held the position since 3rd December 2018. Rosli Man is a telecommunications veteran with 33 years of experience and he replaced Dr Sulaiman Mahbob. During Rosli Man’s tenure, TM had appointed Noor Kamarul as its Group CEO. Noor Kamarul is TM’s first permanent CEO since the resignation of Dato Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly in June 2018.

Apart from TM, it was also reported that UMNO Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan is expected to be appointed as the Chairman of Tenaga Nasional Berhad. The current chairman of TNB is Tan Sri Ahmad Badri Mohd Zahir and he recently replaced Tan Sri Leo Moggie who had resigned in late February.

Other possible chairman appointments include Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh at Felda, Datuk Seri Rohani Karim at Bernas, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim at FGV and Datuk Hasbullah Osman at SPNB. Other speculations include Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor being appointed as Chairman of Tabung Haji, Datuk Shabudin Yahaya being appointed to Felcra and Tan Sri Noh Omar being appointed to MISC.

There’s no confirmation just yet and new appointments are to be expected especially after a change in administration. Political analysts have predicted that politicians including Members of Parliament may be appointed at GLCs to consolidate the coalition’s support.
