The Huawei Watch GT 2e is now available to pre-order in Malaysia

Huawei has recently launched a new smartwatch alongside the P40 series: the Huawei Watch GT 2e. Now, the Chinese company has announced official pricing details, as well as availability details for the new fitness-centric wearable, with pre-orders beginning today.

The Watch GT 2e, at first glance, is an incremental upgrade from the Huawei Watch GT 2—the same Kirin A1 chip powering the device, the same 1.39″ OLED display, as well as a strong battery estimate of up to 14 days. But the most obvious upgrades come in the fitness-tracking department, with added SpO2 monitoring and VO2Max now supported.

While it isn’t mentioned, the new wearable probably runs on LiteOS, while we’re also expecting to see a built-in microphone and speaker to help you make calls. There’s still no voice assistant support just yet, although Richard Yu recently announced “Celia”, which could be coming to smart devices soon.

Huawei’s latest wearable, just like its predecessor (the Watch GT 2, arguably), falls into the “pseudo-smartwatch” category. This means that you won’t be able to install standalone smartwatch apps, which helps contribute to the aforementioned long-lasting battery life estimate.

In Malaysia, retail pricing is set at RM599, with the pre-order period beginning today (at 10.08am) up to the 10th of April 2020. Delivery then starts from the following day, the 11th of April. Those who pre-order the smartwatch from Huawei will receive a free TPU strap (worth RM69).

There are 2 colour options: Mint Green and Graphite Black, and the free TPU strap is the red option (that looks pretty similar to the Apple Watch Nike straps, actually).
