All Express Rail Link (ERL) services will be suspended starting tomorrow, Saturday, 4th April 2020 until the Movement Control Order is lifted. This includes both KLIA Express and KLIA Transit.
According to the official statement, online ticketing for travel until 14th April is suspended and riders may only select travel dates from 15th April 2020 onwards via the app and website. At the moment, ERL will continue to run KLIA Express and Transit as a combined service with 30-minute intervals between 6am to 10am and 5pm to 10pm. Passengers that have unused tickets may request for refund by email.
According to Bernama’s report, the suspension was due to the very low numbers of ridership in the past eight days. On top of that, it is also mentioned that there are virtually no air travellers and commuters using the ERL service during the Movement Control order. It is also reported that other airport train services have been suspended and this includes City Airport Train in Vienna, Rhonexpress in Lyon, Gatwick Express in London, Gautrain in Johannesburg, and Airport Express Line in New Delhi.
The current Movement Control Order is currently scheduled to end on 14th April 2020 but there’s the possibility of a further extension to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.
