3 TM employees tested positive for COVID-19, Menara TM on lockdown

Telekom Malaysia has announced that three of its employees were tested positive for COVID-19. The first case was reported on Friday, 20th March and two more new cases were revealed today.

For the new cases, one of the employees is based at Menara TM and the last time the person was at the office was on the 10th of March 2020. The second case is an employee that’s based at Menara TM Annexe 2 (TMA2) and the individual’s last visit was on the 11th March 2020.

As a safety precaution, all three towers – Menara TM, Menara TM Annexe 1 (TMA1) and Menara TM Annexe 2 (TMA2) were placed on lockdown last night for disinfection and sanitisation. The sanitisation works are expected to be completed tomorrow, however, only employees identified under Critical Functions are allowed to enter.

The first case at TM was an employee that’s based at Menara TM One in Damansara and the individual had gone on leave on 11th March 2020 after developing symptoms. The sanitisation works at Menara TM One has been completed.

According to TM, a detailed contact tracing is currently being carried out by the Ministry of Health and the TM COVID-19 Response Team to identify and inform those who had made close contact with the affected employees. They will also investigate where the employees might have contracted the coronavirus. TM employees that are based in TMA1 and TMA2 are told to self-isolate, to work from home or work from a contingency site. Individuals that are in close contact are placed on home quarantine immediately and they are required to contact their nearest district medial centre if they develop any symptoms.

During the Movement Control Order, TM has initiated a Special Working Arrangement for its staff nationwide starting from 18th March 2020. TM employees with critical functions are given the option of flexible working hours or split working teams. For other employees with non-critical functions, they are encouraged to work from home using digital channels and online productivity tools.

To help Malaysians that are staying at home, TM has announced several initiatives which include free data on Unifi Mobile postpaid and prepaid, as well as free access to all Unifi TV channels.
