Xiaomi has sold over 110 million Redmi Note devices worldwide

The Redmi Note series has always been a top choice for those that are looking for a cheap and good mid-range smartphone. Since its very first model in 2014, Xiaomi has sold over 110 million units worldwide.

The very first Redmi Note is a 3G device that comes with a 5.5″ HD 720p display and it runs on a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek 6592 processor. It even gets a removable 3,200mAh battery which is quite huge at that time. Priced at RM509, it was quite a hot seller and initially, you could only get it through Xiaomi’s online flash sale. A few months later, Xiaomi released the 4G version also at RM509 and it runs on a Snapdragon 400 processor.

Fast-forward to 2020, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is now a large-screen smartphone that comes with a huge 5,020mAh battery. When it comes to performance, the Redmi Note now features an upper mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor which can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

While most smartphone manufacturers have dropped the microSD card expansion slot and 3.5mm headphone jack, the latest Redmi Note 9 Pro and Note 9 Pro Max still retain those fan favourite features including an infrared blaster. Although the prices have increased due to better hardware and materials, the 9th gen Redmi Note series is still priced under RM1,000.
