Samsung offers free Galaxy sanitising service for smartphone owners

With the current COVID-19 outbreak, practising good personal hygiene habits is key to contain the spread of the virus. To keep your smartphone clean, Samsung Malaysia is offering free Galaxy Sanitising Service at its service centres nationwide.

According to Samsung Malaysia’s website, their free sanitising service uses UV-C light which cleans your device without the use of harsh chemicals. The Korean smartphone maker has tested the sanitising devices at their service centres and experience stores to ensure that the UV-C light does not cause any performance degradation on your phone.

The sanitising service is offered completely free of charge and it is available at every Samsung Service Centres in Malaysia. On top of that, the service is also available for all mobile devices including non-Samsung users as long as you walk into your nearest service centre.

Samsung has highlighted that the UV-C sanitisers are third-party devices and the effectiveness may vary depending on market and model. There’s also a footnote that mentions that results may vary and it may not kill all bacteria, germs and viruses.

If you want to clean your Samsung Tablet and Galaxy Smart Watch, the sanitising service is available only at their The Garden and Pavilion outlets.

As highlighted by Apple recently, another alternative way of disinfecting your personal devices such as phone and tablets is to use disinfectant wipes. Apple recommends using a 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes to clean its products. However, do note that excessing wiping, usage of harsh chemicals and cleaning agents may cause damage.
