Ahead of the Huawei P40 series launch, the latest 5G flagship device has just gotten the SIRIM green light. This is also an indication that the device will be going on sale in Malaysia very soon.

The device with the model number ELS-NX9 has been spotted on SIRIM and the same device has also passed certification in Thailand and Russia. From the listing, we can confirm that it will support 700MHz, 3500MHz and 3700MHz 5G bands as well as 802.11ax WiFi which is also known as WiFi 6. There’s also NFC, dual-SIM support and Wireless Power Transfer.

The launch is taking place on the 26th of March and it will be an online event due to the current COVID-19 outbreak. The latest P40 series is expected to run on a Kirin 990 5G and Huawei is expected to level up its photography capability with a longer zoom range. This would compete against the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

Since Malaysia is a key market, you can expect Malaysia to be among the first wave countries to get it. However, due to the ongoing restrictions by the US Government, this will be the first Huawei P-series flagship to be shipped without Google Mobile Services. New Huawei devices will come with Huawei Mobile Services pre-installed and users can discover and installs via Huawei’s App gallery.

Thanks @KevinNgTK for the tip!
