A brand new year deserves a new powerful mid-range smartphone. Xiaomi will unveil its new Redmi Note 9 series in India next week on the 12th of March 2020, which is a week after Realme introduces its new Realme 6 series.
From the official teasers, the upcoming Redmi Note device will still come with a quad-camera setup and it will feature a 2×2 camera layout which is similar to the Huawei Mate 20 series.
While Realme’s upcoming device boasts #ProCameraProDisplay, Xiaomi’s sub-brand is focusing on #ProCamerasMaxPerformance. The current Redmi Note 8 Pro is using Samsung’s 64MP Bright GW1 sensor and it would be interesting if they can up the ante with an even higher resolution camera. It isn’t clear which processor Xiaomi will be using but it should be an upgrade over the current Redmi Note 8 Pro‘s MediaTek G90T processor.
Xiaomi India CEO, Manu Kumar Jain has also dropped a teaser of the device and it appears to be partially hidden by a newspaper. From what we can see, it has a glass-like glossy back and it still comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack along with a USB-C port.
Serial leakster Ishan Agarwal has tweeted some key highlights for the upcoming device. Apart from the cameras and processor, the Redmi Note 9 promises to offer a better design and an “unmatched” fast charging performance. This tells us that the new phone can support a higher charging output above 18W.
With the launch happening next week, we expect Xiaomi to drop details for the Redmi Note 9 series in the coming days. The current Redmi Note 8 Pro with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is going for RM999. If you prefer a device that runs on a Qualcomm processor, the Mi 9T with 6GB RAM + 64GB of storage is now going for RM1,093.
