If you’re looking for a gaming-centric smartphone, it appears that Xiaomi-backed Black Shark will be unveiling its new smartphones next week. According to Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun, the Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro will be introduced on the 3rd of March 2020.
Ahead of the event, he has dropped a couple of clues which will make mobile gaming enthusiasts happy. The battery on the Black Shark 3 is now a larger 4,720mAh capacity while the Black Shark 3 Pro will get an even bigger 5,000mAh unit. Unlike typical smartphones, the new gaming device comes with a dual-battery design with the phone’s motherboard is placed between the two batteries.
The new device will support an insane 65W fast wired charging and it is rated to push approximately 58% charge (2,780mAh) for the Black Shark 3 in just 15 minutes. For greater convenience, you can now charge the phone while gaming with its magnetic charging cable that latches on to the rear of the phone. As shown in the video below, there are connector pins on the back of the phone but it isn’t clear if it still supports 65W fast charging with this method of charging.
For the very first time on a Black Shark gaming phone, there’s finally a 3.5mm headphone jack which allows you to hook up your own pair of wired headphones directly. With more smartphones pushing higher refresh rate, the Black Shark 3 and 3 Pro are expected to come with a higher 120Hz refresh rate.
Since this is a new flagship device, you can also expect it to run on a Snapdragon 865 processor and it will likely come with 5G dual-mode support. We expect Black Shark and Lei Jun to drop more hints of the new gaming smartphone in the next couple of days.
