Honor 9X Pro coming to Malaysia in March 2020

The Honor 9X Pro is officially announced for the global market and it runs on a 7nm Kirin 810 chipset that has its own NPU. During the event, it was revealed that the Honor 9X Pro will be going on sale internationally next month with a retail price of EUR 249 (about RM1,132).

The device will be released first in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Egypt, KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) and Malaysia from March 2020. We expect the Malaysian pricing to be cheaper and we will be getting the 6GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, which is very generous for a mid-range device.

To recap, the Honor 9X Pro features a 6.59″ Full HD+ FullView display that doesn’t come with a notch or punch-hole. To address the selfie camera conundrum, it also gets a 16MP pop-up selfie camera like the standard Honor 9X.

The Kirin 810 chipset is paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage. You can expand the storage further via a microSD card.

The rear triple-camera setup is similar to the standard 9X. It has a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2MP depth sensor. With a more powerful processor, the 9X Pro has a higher ISO of 102400 and it also supports 48MP AI Ultra Clarity Mode, which isn’t offered on the Honor 9X. Also included is AIS (AI stabilisation) for steadier handheld shots.

Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery that charges via USB-C and it also gets a 3.5mm headphone jack. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support fast charging and it settles for a standard 10W power brick.

Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 9.1 that’s based on Android 9 but it will be upgraded soon to Android 10. The Honor 9X Pro will be the company’s first smartphone to be released with Huawei Mobile Services. This means you won’t find Google apps and services pre-installed and you’ll have to rely on Huawei AppGallery to discover and download apps.
