TM is hiring for their 5G rollout in Malaysia

Malaysia is expected to begin commercial 5G deployment in Q3 2020 and Telekom Malaysia (TM) is now looking for passionate individuals to join their 5G journey. They have posted job openings for various 5G related positions on its TM Careers portal.

At the moment, there are a total of 29 job vacancies available that are based in Wilayah Persekutuan. The positions include Mobile Technology Management, Mobile Solution Architect, Mobile Site Acquisition, Mobile Core Network Planning, Radio Access Network (RAN) Planning, Mobile Internet Protocol & Transport Planning and Mobile Business Integration. Interested candidates must submit their application through the career portal by 6th March 2020. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

TM aims to deploy the first 5G SA network in Malaysia. During the recent 5G Demonstration Projects in Langkawi, TM was the first in the world to trial 5G SA on both 700MHz and 3.5GHz.

As announced by the MCMC, the 700MHz and 3.5GHz spectrum for 5G will be allocated to a consortium instead of giving to individual telcos. Multiple consortiums can participate in the bid but only one will be selected. Meanwhile, the higher 26GHz and 28GHz bands will be assigned to licensees for nationwide usage and non-licensees for private usage through a bidding process.
