It looks like the show must go on for Huawei and Honor in Barcelona despite the cancellation of MWC 2020. The largest mobile show which was supposed to take place next week has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns and after a number of top exhibitors have withdrawn their participation. After Xiaomi, Oppo and Realme have announced the postponement of their respective launches, Huawei and its sub-brand Honor will proceed to unveil their latest products which will take place on Monday, 24th February 2020.

The Huawei event was originally scheduled to take place on 23rd February which is on the eve of MWC 2020 and now it is pushed to the following day. CEO Richard Yu is expected to host the “virtual press conference” event in Barcelona which will also be streamed live. It isn’t clear which product Huawei will be unveiling but word has it that it could be the successor to its foldable Huawei Mate X which was launched during MWC2019.

For Honor, their event is also taking place on 24th February in Barcelona but at 6:30pm (25th February 1:30am Malaysian Time). The theme of the press conference is All-Scenario Intelligence which sounds like a launch for its Honor IoT lineup.

From the teaser image, we could see the Honor View 30, Honor 9X, MagicBook and other accessories. The event could also be the venue for the global launch of its Honor View 30 Pro and Honor 9X Pro which is scheduled to be released in Q1 2020.

Another new device that is expected to be announced is the Honor 9X Lite which was recently teased by Honor President, George Zhao. Despite the ongoing restrictions from the US government, the new Honor 9X is expected to come with Google Mobile Services pre-installed.

For other smartphone makers, most of them will be unveiling their devices virtually from another venue. Sony has confirmed that its new Xperia device will be announced via live stream on the 24th February at 8:30am local time. Meanwhile, Realme will also launch their new Realme X50 Pro 5G in Madrid on the same day and it will be streamed live.
