Honor 9X Lite coming soon with Google apps and services included

After unveiling the Honor 9X for the global market last year, the Huawei sub-brand is about to release a more affordable model that’s called the Honor 9X Lite. This was revealed by Honor President, George Zhao, and the device promises to deliver flagship experiences for everyone.

As revealed by the teaser image, the Honor 9X Lite has a dual-camera setup which is housed in a large rectangular camera bump. It has a 48MP main camera and possibly a secondary shooter for either ultra-wide-angle or bokeh effects. Similar to the Honor 9X, it also gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor while the back panel has a shimmering aurora glass effect.

We don’t have the full hardware details just yet but it is likely to be running on the same Kirin 710F as the Honor 9X. What’s interesting is that the Honor 9X Lite has been certified for Google Play and this means it will come with a Google Play Store.

If you’re wondering how is this possible since Huawei and Honor faces restrictions by the US government, the new device is likely to be a rehash of an existing model plus extra minor upgrades like a better camera. This is the same case as the current Honor 9X as it is essentially a rehash of the Huawei P Smart Z and the Huawei Y9 Prime.

It is also worth mentioning that the Honor 9X Pro will be released globally within the first quarter of 2020. The 9X Pro runs on a newer Kirin 810 processor but it will be shipped with Huawei Mobile Services. The current Honor 9X with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage was released in Malaysia in November 2019 with a retail price tag of RM999.
