Huawei Nova 7i is coming to Malaysia on Valentine’s Day

Huawei is introducing a new Nova smartphone in Malaysia very soon. After releasing the Nova 5T, the Chinese smartphone maker is releasing its Huawei Nova 7i on 14th February 2020. According to Huawei, Malaysia is the first country to get the device outside of China.

Huawei is calling it a mid-range smartphone that comes with a 48MP main camera. The rear gets a quad-camera setup that features an ultra-wide-angle and a dedicated macro camera. One of its key highlights is its built-in video-call feature called “MeeTime”. It promises to offer great audio and video quality from the front camera even in low light conditions.

The Huawei Nova 7i has a 6.4″ IPS LCD display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution. Powering the device is a 7nm Kirin 810 processor that has 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage which is expandable via an NM Card. Keeping the lights on is a 4,200mAh battery that can support 40W SuperCharge via USB-C. According to Huawei, you can get a 70% charge in just 30 minutes by cable.

From the looks of it, the Nova 7i is basically a global version of the Nova 6 SE in China. Both have similar specs and it also runs on EMUI 10.0.1 that’s based on Android 10. For the Nova 6 SE, the device has a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera. Meanwhile, the rear gets a 48MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP camera for depth effects. As shown above, the Nova 7i also comes with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor which is similar to the current Nova 5T.

Due to the current restrictions from the US Government, this could be the first Nova smartphone to be shipped without Google Mobile Services. This means you’ll need to use the Huawei AppGallery or sideload APK files in order to use your favourite apps.

We don’t know the price of the device just yet. Huawei says it will be revealed when they share more details of its upcoming sales roadshow. The Nova 6 SE in China is officially priced at CNY 2,199 which is about RM1,295.
