Xpax Prepaid offers 48GB for RM38/month but there’s one catch

Celcom has just announced two new Xpax prepaid internet passes which give you even more data for less. Available for a limited time, you can get 48GB of data for RM38/month.

The first option is its 7-day pass that offers 18GB of data for RM12 and it comes with 1GB of hotspot data. For long term usage, the 30-day pass offers 48GB for RM38/month and it comes with 3GB of hotspot data.

Additional hotspot quota can be purchased at RM1 for 1GB which is valid for 1 day or RM3 for 5GB that’s valid for 3 days. According to the FAQ, the hotspot service will be disabled once the free hotspot quota is fully utilised.

As a comparison, Xpax typically offers 5GB of data for RM30/month, 10GB for RM50/month and 15GB for RM79/month. These usual plans are also bundled with free unlimited late-night YouTube usage between 1am to 7am and you also get Free 15GB of Video Walla for the highest 15GB option.

If you need unlimited quota, you can activate the Ultra Hour Pass which lets you enjoy unlimited usage from as little as RM1 per hour or RM2 for 3 hours. You can also activate 12 hours for RM5 or 24 hours for RM8.

Things you should know

You must be wondering, why are the new internet passes cheaper than the usual monthly plans? According to the T&C, the new Internet Passes come with a speed cap of 3Mbps, which is similar to U Mobile’s GX30 plan. This isn’t mentioned on the actual website and you really need to dig into the T&C to find this term. In case you’re wondering, the hotspot data is also speed-capped at 3Mbps.

On top of that, there’s no data rollover for these affordable passes and this means you can’t carry forward unused data to the following month. Once your quota is finished, you can still continue to stay connected but at a throttled 64kbps.

If you’re interested to subscribe to Xpax, the starter pack costs RM10 and it comes with 10GB of high-speed internet for Facebook, Instagram and Games Walla. You can learn more on Celcom’s prepaid page.
