Most of the time, movie makers and studious will look at video game titles to make their next big adaption. It’s not too hard to see why as video games are packed with rich lore, interesting characters and engaging stories. What they do with that gold mine of material, is a story for a different day.

However, up till now, there hasn’t really been a movie or TV series based on the people that work on creating video games. But all that is set to change come February 2020 when the comedy series, Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet, is released on Apple TV+.

This new series produced by Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) goes behind the scenes and follows a team of video game developers as they navigate the challenges of running a popular Massive Multiple Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) and what the team does to keep the game popular.

Interestingly, the trailer for the series was presented by McElhenney on 10 June at Ubisoft’s E3 2019 press conference. This is because the show is also produced in partnership with the game developer.

Besides duties as a producer, McElhenney will also star as the fictional company’s creative director, Ian Grimm. He is joined by a cast that is made up of Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham, Danny Pudi, Imani Hakim, Charlotte Nicadao, David Hornsby, Ashly Burch and Jessie Ennis.

If you’re a fan of sitcoms in the vein of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, then Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet would be right up your alley as it will most likely bear the same clever writing and laughs of the aforementioned series. Not only are McElhenney and Day producing the show, David Hornsby and Megan Ganz who also worked on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia return as executive producers for this one.

On 7 February, all nine, half-hour episodes of the live-action comedy will be available for streaming on Apple TV+.
