Samsung to unveil its Galaxy A 2020 series next week

Before 2019 comes to an end, Samsung will unveil its new Galaxy A devices for 2020. The global debut appears to be taking place in Vietnam and it’s happening on the 12th December 2019.

From what we’ve seen so far, the new 2020 models will end with “1” in the model name. The successor to the Galaxy A50s is expected to be released as the Galaxy A51 while the Galaxy A70s will be replaced by the Galaxy A71.

As seen on the teaser above, Samsung has also confirmed that the new Galaxy A series will feature a centre-aligned punch-hole display which looks similar to the current Galaxy Note 10 series. It is likely that Samsung will continue to offer Super AMOLED displays as standard that will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Based on early renders by @onleaks, the new Galaxy A 2020 series will feature a rather large bump that looks like a mishmash between a Pixel 4 and the Honor View 30. It is rumoured that all models will come with at least three cameras at the rear. Samsung might fit a higher resolution sensor up to 108MP for the main camera and possibly a new telephoto unit with 2X optical zoom on its premium models.

The new Galaxy A series for 2019 was first announced in February 2019 and the refreshed “s” models were introduced in August 2019. The new series marks a turning point for Samsung as it offers better specs, a larger display and a big battery at a lower price point. It replaces the old Galaxy J series which was seen as overpriced compared to its Chinese rivals.
