The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has announced the winners of its Star Rating Award 2018. The award ceremony that was held at Cyberjaya aims to recognise the outstanding services rendered by Malaysian telecommunication companies to consumers.
Digi emerged as the biggest winner as it sweeps 3 out of 8 awards. The yellow telco won the award for the best Public Cellular Service Provider, Best Consumer Satisfaction and Best Quality of Service. XOX is recognised as the “Best MVNO” while Celcom bags the “Best Corporate Social Responsibility” award.
Meanwhile, U Mobile was also awarded for the “Best Quality of Service” and Maxis had won the “Best Network Investment” award. For fixed broadband, TT Dotcom Sdn Bhd was awarded the best “Wired Broadband Access Service” provider and TM’s Webe Digital, on the other hand, was awarded the Best in Compliance to Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998.

According to MCMC Chairman, Al-Ishsal Ishak, the MCMC is committed to raising the bar on customer experience along with the telecommunication service providers to ensure that the network quality remains top-notch. He added that customers these days are buying into solutions, not just individual products and packages. Therefore, service providers have to reflect the needs of customers as the MCMC wants to provide the best telecommunication experience to all Malaysians.
The awards were presented in recognition of the telecommunication service providers’ performance in 2018 and it is assessed based on four parameters – consumer satisfaction, quality of service, network investment and compliance to CMA 1998. According to the MCMC, the Star Rating Award 2018 had received an overwhelming response from service providers as it encourages them to continuously strive in uplifting their performance in each parameter set by the commission.
