iPhone 11 Pro Max shares the 2nd highest DxOMark score with Galaxy Note 10+

Camera benchmark site, DxOMark, has just published its camera review of the iPhone 11 Pro Max. With an overall score of 117 points, this is the 2nd highest score on DxOMark Mobile and it puts it on par with the Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ 5G and 4G variants. Right above it is the quad-camera Huawei Mate 30 Pro and the penta-camera Xiaomi CC9 Pro Premium Edition, with an overall score of 121 points.

If you break it down, the iPhone 11 Pro Max gets 124 points for photos which put it among the top 5 on their current list. For videos, it has the same highest score of 102 points as the new Xiaomi CC9 Pro Premium Edition.

To recap, the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max feature a triple-camera which is a first for the iPhone. It features a 12MP f/1.8 main camera, a 12MP f/2.0 telephoto shooter with 2X optical zoom and a 12MP f/2.4 camera for ultra-wide-angle. Both the main and telephoto cameras come with optical image stabilisation.

According to DxOMark, the iPhone 11 Pro Max is among the best smartphones for imaging and it achieved a top score for video due to its good detail, wide dynamic range and smooth stabilisation. For still pictures, it had shown consistently good results from the primary camera and it is now versatile thanks to its ultra-wide-angle lens.

They noted that the iPhone losses out detail in long-range zoom due to its 2X optical zoom limit and there’s a lack of detail with noticeable noise for ultra-wide images. Interestingly, they said that the bokeh simulation isn’t quite on par with the very best. For video, they noticed jello effect while walking and occasionally there are some white-balance instabilities when recording indoors.
