If you want to enjoy watching YouTube videos without any distracting ads, YouTube Premium is finally available in Malaysia. It’s priced at RM17.90/month and you can try it for free up to 4 months.

To activate, just tap on your Profile icon and select Get YouTube Premium or Paid Memberships. Once you’ve entered your credit or debit card details, you can start to enjoy your free trial.

[ UPDATE 6/11/2019 10:55 ] We noticed that some users may not get 4-months and the trial offer is account and device dependent. Some users may only get 1 or 2 months free trial.

[ UPDATE 6/11/2019 22:50 ] According to YouTube, the 4 months free trial is available for selected Samsung devices. Below is their clarification:

*4 month free trial promotion available with eligible purchase and activation of a Note10, S10, Tab S6 or Tab S5e. All other Samsung Galaxy mobile devices are eligible to receive a 2 month free trial. At the end of the trial period, users will be automatically charged the standard subscription price unless cancelled before the end of the trial. Offer must be redeemed by March 31, 2020. Restrictions and terms apply.

There’s also a family plan option at RM26.90/month and you can add up to 5 family members (aged 13+) under your household. The family plan comes with a 1-month free trial.

If you’re using an iOS device such as an iPhone or an iPad, you’ll have to pay more as it is billed via iTunes. It costs RM23.90/month for individual and RM35.90/month for a family plan. That’s RM6 more per month for individuals. On top of that, you’ll only get 1-month free trial.

Apple users can pay lower by subscribing via a web browser to enjoy lower rates via your credit or debit card. The subscription is tied to your account so it doesn’t matter which device you’re watching from.

Extra YouTube features

Apart from having no ads, you can also save videos and playlists offline on your mobile devices. In addition, you can also keep your videos playing in the background when you run other apps or even if you switch the screen off. The subscription also provides an ad-free experience and offline play for YouTube Kids app.

In addition to having a “Premium” logo on the home screen, you also get additional tabs for Music and YouTube Originals.

YouTube Music included

The YouTube Premium subscription also includes YouTube Music which allows you to listen to millions of songs without ads. You also get the ability to download the music offline.

For more info, you can check out YouTube Premium.
