When it comes to headphones, one man’s meat can truly be another’s poison. After all, it’s very often a case of personal preferences, with different audio brands usually having distinct sound profiles. And with the continued disappearance of the headphone jack in flagship smartphones today, the market for wireless headphones has grown exponentially in recent times.
And because of that, brands such as Sony, Samsung, Apple, and even Xiaomi has put a lot more emphasis into their True Wireless Stereo (TWS) headphones offerings. In fact, many brands are pushing their headphones as part of an ecosystem, with easier access and compatibility with specific branded devices—think of the Galaxy Buds with the Galaxy S10 or Note 10, for example.
So what does the market say about all of this? According to a report from global research firm, Counterpoint, Apple’s Airpods is the most preferred wireless headphones in the U.S., ahead of Bose, Samsung, Sony, and Beats. The AirPods is the clear winner with 57% of user preference, while Bose comes in 2nd place with 39%. In 3rd place, comes Korean company Samsung, with a 33% rating.
However, it’s worth noting that the sample used is only made up of 200 respondents, so the report isn’t a reflection of the global, or even the American market, as a whole. But that’s not to say it’s the best choice, or even close to it. There are a whole load of options out there today, with some brands even offering some pretty affordable options.
