Here’s when Honor and Huawei devices get EMUI 10 based on Android 10

With Android 10 now official, it’s time for smartphone makers to roll out the latest OS version to its current devices. During IFA 2019, Huawei had revealed its EMUI 10 upgrade roadmap which will cover more than 30 devices until mid-2020.

As captured by 9to5Google, it appears that EMUI 10 will be making its official debut on the upcoming Mate 30 series. This is quite interesting, as Google had said that the new flagship device will not be sold with official Google apps and services pre-installed. However, it is highly possible that the Mate 30 will be running on an open-source version of Android similar to Chinese sets that are shipped without Google PlayStore and native Google apps pre-installed.

For the existing Huawei and Honor models, below is the release schedule:

November 2019
Huawei P30
Huawei P30 Pro

December 2019
Huawei Mate 20
Huawei Mate 20 Pro
Huawei Mate 20 RS
Huawei 20 X (4G)
Honor 20
Honor View 20
Honor 20 Pro

March 2020
Huawei P30 Lite
Huawei P20 Series
Huawei Mate 10 Series

Q2 2020
Other models

At the moment, Huawei and Honor flagships are currently running on EMUI 9.1 (Magic 2.1 for Honor) that is based on Android 9 Pie. The EMUI 9.1 update is also being pushed to older mid-range models like the Honor 8X, Nova 3i and Nova 3e. If you’re using a Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, you can get early access to EMUI 10 by registering yourself as a beta tester.

Just a few days ago, Huawei had announced new colour variants of the P30 Pro and it will be shipped with EMUI 10 out of the box. Unfortunately, there’s no timeline for its commercial availability and judging from the roadmap, it could be released sometime in November. In case you missed it, the Mate 30 series will be launched in Munich on the 19th September 2019.
