Oppo Malaysia is launching a quad-camera smartphone this month

Oppo Malaysia has dropped a teaser of an incoming quad-camera smartphone. It promises to offer improved features for photography with an innovative design. Following its global announcement in India last week, this is likely to be the new Reno 2 series and it’s coming in September.

According to Oppo, the new smartphone will feature an amazing quad-lens camera and each lens will work together seamlessly to provide incredible photography results. Looking at the teaser above, it appears that the new device will have a quad-camera setup with three cameras in a column and one extra shooter positioned on the right.

On the current Oppo Reno 2 series, the new devices have a quad-camera setup with four cameras arranged vertically in a single line. We are not 100% sure but it is possible that we might be getting a different model from the Indian market judging by the camera layout.

Last week, Oppo (JIE Business Sdn Bhd) had gotten a total of 5 new smartphones certified under SIRIM. At least three of the devices have also gotten the green light from Indonesia’s regulatory body.

To recap, the Oppo Reno 2 features a 6.5″ Full HD+ AMOLED display and it runs a Snapdragon 730G processor with 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. For imaging, the rear gets a 48MP f/1.7 main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 13MP telephoto lens and a 2MP mono lens. The device also gets a wedge-shaped pop-up selfie camera that has a 16MP front camera.

Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery that supports VOOC 3.0 Flash Charging via USB-C. Apart from the Oppo Reno 2, there are also more affordable models such as the Reno 2 Z that’s running on an Helio P90 processor and the Reno 2F that uses an Helio P70 processor.
