Following the launch of the new Galaxy Note 10, it’s now Apple’s turn to reveal its latest iPhone models. The Cupertino company has marked 10th September as their next big event where they are expected to announce the iPhone 11.
The Apple Special Event that carries the theme “By Innovation only” is happening at the Steve Jobs Theater at 10 am PDT, which is at 1 am on Wednesday, 11th September (Malaysian time). The last iPhone event took place around the same time and you can catch the event via live stream.
Similar to last year, Apple is expected to reveal three new iPhone models and it will succeed the current iPhone XS, XS Max and XR. From the leaks we’ve seen so far, it appears that Apple will still retain the all-screen look that comes with a wide notch at the top.
The biggest change would be in the camera department as the new series of iPhone models will get a bump in the number of cameras. The top-of-the-line XS and XS Max successors are expected to come with a triple-camera setup while the XR replacement will come with a dual-camera setup.
Apart from running on iOS 13, the next iPhone models are rumoured to support reverse wireless charging and Apple is also expected to upgrade its bundled USB charger which currently pushes a very low 5W output. The new iPhone models are expected to come with a USB-C charger with higher output and a USB-C to lightning cable.
So the question is, when is the new iPhone going on sale? In the first wave countries which include Singapore, pre-orders should start on a Friday during the announcement week (likely 13 September) and it will hit the shelves on the following Friday (20 September).
If we look back at the iPhone XS, it took slightly over a month before it arrives officially in Malaysia. Pre-orders for the iPhone XS were available locally on 19th October 2018 and it went on sale through telcos and retailers on 26th October. Our guess is that Malaysians could probably be able to pre-order the new iPhone 11 around mid-October.
