The excitement over the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 series is reaching a crescendo, with a possible release of Huawei’s latest flagships rumoured to be coming in September. And with much of the discussion surrounding the range-topping Mate 30 Pro, it’s been a little quieter with regards to news on the smaller Mate 30.
However, a leaked image has surfaced on Weibo that suggests that the Mate 30 is about to get a pretty big upgrade from its predecessor, the Mate 20. Some images of the internals of the Mate 20 (below) suggest that there will be a notch on the front of the device, as opposed to the water-drop notch that the Mate 20 had.
This could be indicative of 2 photographic sensors that could be used to improve face recognition, which would likely provide a more secure and accurate face-recognition process. A second image (below) corroborates this, with the actual front panel of the smartphone showing 2 sensors housed in the notch.
The Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will be coming with Huawei’s latest SoC, the Kirin 990, although we don’t have an exact date yet for the official launch. There has also been a supposed leaked promo image of the Mate 30 series, which suggests that there will still be a notch on the Mate 30 smartphones—as seen in the current article—which suggests that Huawei is still retaining its 3D scanning sensors for better security and AR features.
