The Galaxy Note 10 will be getting a new mobile processor that’s better than the current Exynos 9820 chip on the Galaxy S10 series. The Exynos 9825 was just announced and it said to be the industry’s first 7nm EUV silicon chip. According to Samsung, the new mobile processor offers high performance for both gaming and graphics while offering superior battery life.
Based on their product page, EUV (Ultraviolet lithography) processing technology allows Samsung to leverage on extreme wavelengths to print finer circuits and develop a faster and a more power-efficient processor. In theory, this should provide the Galaxy Note 10 better battery life compared to the current Exynos 9820 chip that’s based on an 8nm process.
In the CPU department, it appears that the new Exynos 9825 chip uses the same tri-cluster architecture. It has 2x 4th gen custom CPU cores + 2x Cortex A75 cores + 4x Cortex A55 cores. According to Anandtech, the new chip is seen to have a slight bump in frequency for the middle Cortex A75 cores.
Similar to the previous chip, it also gets an ARM Mali G76 MP12 GPU and an integrated NPU for AI-oriented processing. Samsung didn’t provide any performance improvement figures but it was mentioned that the GPU runs at a faster clock speed compared to its previous generation. The new SoC also supports LPDDR4x RAM as well as faster UFS 3.0 storage.
For connectivity, the integrated 4G LTE-Advanced Pro model can support up to 2Gbps download speeds with 8x Carrier aggregation. It is also 5G ready when the chip is paired to an Exynos Modem 5100.
When it comes to imaging, the Exynos 9825 boasts advanced image processing thanks to its integrated NPU. It supports a multi-camera setup which includes telephoto, wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and 3D depth sensors.
Since Malaysia traditionally gets an Exynos variant for flagship devices, you can expect the Exynos 9825 chip to be powering the Galaxy Note 10 and Note 10+ for our local market.
