Samsung introduces Galaxy Tab S6 with dual-camera and an S Pen with Air actions

As teased earlier today, the Galaxy Tab S6 is finally official and this is Samsung’s latest flagship Android tablet. Apart from having updated specs, the Tab S6 now features a redesigned S Pen that you can use as a remote and it can be charged wirelessly.

Upfront, the device comes with a 10.5″ WQXGA (2560×1600 pixels) Super AMOLED display that has a 16:10 aspect ratio. Since this is a media consumption media, it also gets a quad-speaker setup that’s tuned by AKG along with Dolby Atmos technology enhancement.

The Galaxy Tab S6 is also their first tablet to feature an optical-based in-display fingerprint sensor. This is the same fingerprint sensor technology that’s used on the Galaxy S10 and S10+.

Powering the device is a Snapdragon 855 processor and it’s offered in two configurations – 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. If you need to expand storage further, it also accepts a microSD card up to a maximum of 1TB.

In the camera department, it comes with a dual-camera setup consisting of a 13MP f/2.2 main camera and a 5MP f/2.0 ultra-wide-angle shooter that has a 123-degree field of view. You can also shoot 4K videos with it at 30fps. Over at the front, the device also gets an 8MP f/2.0 selfie shooter.

Similar to the Galaxy Tab 5e, the device also comes with Samsung DeX support which allows you to transform the tablet into a productive desktop-like setup. There’s an optional Book Cover Keyboard that has a trackpad and you can activate DeX mode instantly with a dedicated combo key.

The new S Pen for the Tab S6 boasts greater productivity with Air actions. Similar to the Galaxy Note 9, you can the S Pen to take selfies and videos, or to control your media playback up to 10-metres away. The S Pen has 10 hours of battery life which you can charge to full with a quick 10-minute charge via its rear magnetic dock.

Keeping the lights on is a 7,040mAh battery that is rated to last 15 hours of video playback on a single charge via a USB-C port. Similar to the Galaxy Tab S5e and the upcoming Galaxy Note 10, Samsung has omitted the 3.5mm headphone jack so you’ll have to either plug-in a USB-C headphones or get a pair of wireless earphones. At the moment, there are no details yet on its pricing and availability.
