Huawei Nova 5i Pro is a mid-range smartphone that looks like a Mate 20

The Huawei Nova 5 family has gotten bigger with the introduction of the Nova 5i Pro as its fourth device. This model is expected to be released as the Mate 30 Lite for selected markets.

Upfront, the device comes with a 6.26″ display that pushes a Full HD+ resolution. The display which has a punch-hole is similar to the Honor 20 and it’s slightly smaller than the Nova 5’s 6.39″ Full HD+ display.

Powering the device is a Kirin 810 processor that can be configured with up to 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage. If you need more, it supports NM card (Maximum 256GB) expansion using the 2nd nanoSIM slot. In terms of design, the rear gets a 2×2 cube camera bump layout like the Mate 20 series and this device has four cameras.

In front, the device gets a 32MP selfie camera, while the rear gets a quad-camera setup. It has a 48MP f/1.8 main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro camera and a 2MP depth shooter.

Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery that charges via USB-C. Using a 20W fast charger, 30-minutes on the cable is rated to push up to 50% charge. On top of that, the Nova 5i Pro also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

In China, the Nova 5i Pro is priced at 2,199CNY (about RM1,317) for the base 6GB RAM +128GB storage model, 2,499CNY (about RM1,497) for 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 2,799CNY (about RM1,676) for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. Interestingly, the mid-spec model is priced the same as the Nova 5 with the equivalent RAM and storage configuration.
