After Asus introduced their ROG Phone II, it’s now Black Shark’s turn to introduce a new gaming smartphone. The Xiaomi-backed gaming-centric brand had just posted a teaser image of their upcoming device which is expected to be called the Black Shark 2 Pro.
The image above reveals a different lighting effect for its rear panel. The outline looks similar to the current Black Shark 2 and it comes with two lighting strips in the middle.
We don’t have full details yet but Black Shark has more or less confirmed that it will run on the latest Snapdragon 855+ processor that has a higher clocked CPU and GPU for 15% better graphics performance.
According to a listing on Geekbench, the Black Shark 2 Pro will come with 12GB of RAM. The new gaming device will be announced officially on the 30th of July China.
As a reference, the current Black Shark 2 is running on a Snapdragon 855 processor that comes with either 8GB RAM + 125GB storage or 12GB RAM + 256GB of storage. It has a 6.39″ AMOLED Full HD+ display with dual-front facing stereo speakers.
Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery which supports 27W fast charging via USB-C. Unfortunately, the device doesn’t come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Can the new Pro model compete with the ROG Phone II? We’ll find out more next week.
