If you thought the Asus ZenFone 6 is incredible, it looks like the upcoming ROG Phone 2 is raising the bar further when it comes to battery capacity. The ROG Phone 2 has already passed China’s TENAA certification which reveals a couple of interesting hardware specs. We also get a clear view of the device itself.
There are two models spotted on TENAA – ASUS_I001DA and ASUS_I001DB. Essentially both look identical except for some minor differences in radio bands. Both are listed with a 6.59″ Full HD+ OLED display which is expected to push a high 120Hz refresh rate.
What’s interesting is that the certification reveals that the device comes with a massive 5,800mAh battery. That’s a huge upgrade from the original ROG Phone which is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery. As a comparison, the latest ZenFone 6 and Nubia Red Magic 3 both comes with a 5,000mAh battery.
The certification also confirms that it is powered by a new Snapdragon 855+ processor which is clocked at a higher speed. The listing also mentions that it will come with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and there are storage options of 128GB, 512GB and 1TB, which is massive.
In terms of design, the ROG Phone 2 looks quite similar to the previous generation model. Even looking at the side profile, it also retains a side-mounted USB-C port, which makes it more practical to charge while gaming in landscape mode.
The ROG Phone 2 is scheduled to launch next week and more details will be revealed soon. Looking at the specs, this looks like the most powerful flagship smartphone at the moment especially with the new processor, a 120Hz OLED screen and a big battery.
