Almost every smartphone maker has a device that comes with a pop-up selfie camera. Now it’s Huawei’s turn to jump onto the bandwagon as they are about to introduce the Y9 Prime 2019 in Malaysia.
The Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is essentially the P Smart Z that was launched in Europe a few months ago. It features a 6.59″ Full HD+ (2340×1080 pixels) LCD display that has no notches. Under the hood, it runs on a Kirin 710F processor with 4GB of RAM. The device is available in either 64GB or 128GB of storage. If that’s not enough, the storage can be expanded further up to 512GB extra.
In the camera department, it features a triple-camera AI setup for the rear. It has a 16MP main camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle shooter and a 2MP depth camera that helps in 3D portrait mode.
For selfies, it comes with a 16MP pop-up front shooter that comes with AI beautification features. According to Huawei, it takes 1-second for it to pop-up and they have tested the module with 15kg of pressure. The pop-up module has been durability-tested for over 100,000 times.
Powering the device is a 4,000mAh battery and it charges via USB-C. Out of the box, it runs on EMUI 9.0 that’s based on Android 9.0 Pie. In the UAE, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 is currently going for 899 AED which is about RM1,005.
