Honor 20 Pro gets Google Play green light, might also be released as the Nova 5T Pro

The top of the line Honor 20 Pro is one step closer to being released very soon. The device has just be included under the Google Play Certified Devices list despite the uncertainty of the ban imposed by the US government. It was speculated that the Honor 20 Pro couldn’t go on sale because it has yet to secure certifications for Google Mobile Services.

If you go to the Google Play supported device page, you can download a list of devices that have passed certification. The folks at XDA had recently spotted an entry for the Honor 20 Pro. What’s interesting is that the Honor 20 Pro is also certified as the Nova 5T Pro while the standard Honor 20 is also known as the Nova 5T. This tells us that the Honor 20 series will be released a Huawei branded device in certain markets. Doesn’t this sound familiar?

The Honor 20 standard model is priced at RM1,699 and we are guessing that the Pro model could be priced under RM2,000 if it gets here. Although it shares the same display and processor, the Honor 20 Pro gets a better quad-camera setup that boasts a DxOMark Mobile score of 111.

It also features a 48MP main camera using Sony’s IMX586 sensor but it boasts a faster f/1.4 aperture lens. The device also gets a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera as well as an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera that can push 3X optical zoom. Also retained is a 2MP camera for macro shots.

Just recently, Honor has also announced their commitment to delivering Android Q update for the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro and Honor 20 Lite. To inspire customer confidence, a couple of retailers are also offering 100% refunds if their Honor devices lose access to Google Play Store.
