Xiaomi hints the Redmi K20 is coming to global markets and it has a different name

Yesterday Xiaomi had revealed its Redmi K20 series in China and it offers top of the line hardware at a very attractive price. If you can’t wait to get your hands on this new flagship killer, Xiaomi has dropped a hint that it’s coming very soon. However, it won’t be released as the Redmi K20.

According to Xiaomi’s tweet, a new Mi 9 device is coming very soon which joins its current Mi 9 and Mi 9 SE. From the letters K, I or T, it also asks which letter would you pick for the new model. The tweet ends with the hashtag #PopUpInStyle which indicates that it will come with a pop-up selfie camera.

From what we know so far, the upcoming device will be called the Mi 9T and this will be the global version of the Redmi K20. The device has already passed several regulatory certifications worldwide including Malaysia and the “Mi 9T” name was also spotted in Thailand’s certification listing.

Since Xiaomi has started teasing, it looks like the global launch is right around the corner and we are guessing that it could go on sale as early as next month. Apart from the Mi 9T, we also expect Xiaomi to unveil a Mi 9T Pro that’s based on the higher spec Redmi K20 Pro.

To recap, the Redmi K20 series features a 6.39″ Full HD+ AMOLED display that’s free from notches at the top. Similar to the latest devices from OnePlus, Vivo and Oppo, it comes with a pop-up camera that houses a 20MP selfie shooter.

For the Redmi K20 Pro, it runs on a Snapdragon 855 processor that can be configured with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Over at the rear, it gets a triple camera setup consisting of a 48MP f/1.75 main camera (Sony IMX586), 13MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle shooter and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with 3X Optical zoom. Powering the device is a large 4,000mAh battery that supports 27W fast charging via USB-C and it also retains a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Meanwhile, the Redmi K20 which is likely to be the Mi 9T, it runs on an upper mid-range Snapdragon 730 processor and a different triple-camera array. It has a 48MP main camera (Sony IMX582), a 13MP ultra-wide-angle camera and an 8MP shooter for bokeh shots. It also retains a 4,000mAh battery but it supports 18W fast charge instead.
