Huawei Malaysia has just announced the Huawei Y5 2019 ahead of the Hari Raya celebration. This is their new budget smartphone that comes with a faux-leather back which claims to be resistant to scratches, stains and fingerprints.

The Y5 2019 features a 5.71″ dewdrop display that pushes a HD+ resolution of 1520×720 pixels. Under the hood, it runs on an entry-level MediaTek Helio A22 processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage. If you need more storage, you can expand storage further via microSD via its own dedicated slot. There are also two nano SIM card slots which can support dual 4G connectivity with dual VoLTE.

For taking pictures, it gets a 13MP f/1.8 rear camera, while the front comes with a 5MP selfie camera that has intelligent beautification features. The device has no fingerprint sensor but you can unlock quickly with its face unlock feature.

Powering the budget smartphone is a modest 3,020mAh battery which charges via a microUSB port. Out of the box, it runs on Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0.

The Huawei Y5 2019 will be on sale in Malaysia starting from 31st May 2019 for RM459. You can get it at Huawei brand stores and Huawei online official stores with three colour options – Modern Black, Amber Brown and Sapphire Blue.

For this price range, you can get a budget device with better specs like the Honor 8C, Realme C2, Redmi 7 and the Nokia 3.2.
