Redmi K20: Pricing of Xiaomi’s new flagship killer revealed

The Redmi K20 is Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship killer and it runs on Qualcomm’s top of the line Snapdragon 855 processor. Ahead of its launch event, the purported pricing for the Redmi K20 has already surfaced online and as expected, it will cost more than the Pocophone F1.

At the moment, Xiaomi is accepting pre-booking for the Redmi K20 with a 100CNY deposit and the first sale is happening in China on the 28th of May 2019. If you’re curious about the pricing, a Weibo user had spotted a retailer that has listed the K20 pricing at 2,599CNY. That’s about RM1,576 if we convert it directly.

Interestingly, another source on Weibo has apparently revealed the pricing of K20 Pro model which will be available in 3 spec variants. The base model with 6GB RAM + 64GB storage is listed at 2,599CNY (about RM1,576) while the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version is priced at 2,799CNY (about RM1,697). Meanwhile, the range-topping 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model is listed at 2,999CNY (about RM1,819).

The purported image above also mentions that the device comes with a Snapdragon 855 processor, a full-screen display with a pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint sensor, a 48MP main camera and a large 4,000mAh battery.

As a comparison, the Mi 9 with 6GB RAM + 128GB storage is currently priced at 2,999CNY (about RM1,819) in China but in Malaysia, the same model is officially priced at RM1,999. If the above image is true, you can expect the K20 to be priced above RM1,600 if it goes on sale in our local market.

Apart from having a larger battery than the Xiaomi Mi 9, the Redmi K20 also has something extra that will make most music enthusiasts happy. Based on a Weibo post made by Lu Wei Bing, the General Manager of Redmi, the upcoming flagship killer will come with a 3.5mm headphone jack with Hi-Res Audio support.
