Honor 20 series has a 6.26″ punch-hole display and a new placement for the fingerprint sensor

The Honor 20 is launching on the 21st of May 2019 and the Huawei sub-brand has dropped more details of its new flagship device. They have revealed that the Honor 20 series will feature the world’s first multi-dimensional Dynamic Holographic Design and it will stand out from its predecessors.

After pioneering the Aurora glass design with the Honor 8, they are taking its exterior design to the next level using their Triple 3D Mesh technology. According to Honor, the depth layer is created using a precise technique and it is embedded with millions of prisms that resemble pieces of diamonds. As a result, the Honor 20 series will get a depth-inducing optical effect.

The Honor 20 boasts a 6.26″ all-screen punch-hole display that has a screen to body ratio of 91.6%. As a comparison, the Honor View 20 has a 6.4″ punch-hole display with a screen to body ratio of 91.8%. Similar to the View 20, the Honor 20 series also comes with a 4.5mm in-screen camera that’s positioned on the top left corner.

For the new flagship, there’s no rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Instead, the Honor 20 series will get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor that’s placed on the right side of its aluminium frame. Honor believes unlocking the phone this way would feel more natural when it is being picked up.

Interestingly, it was also mentioned that the device will get an asymmetrical “L-shaped” positioning of the camera lenses which allows it to pack a bigger battery while allowing it to maintain the aesthetic of the Dynamic Holographic glass back. We are not too sure what does that mean exactly but it could be referring to its quad-camera layout as leaked recently for the Honor 20 Pro model.

Since Malaysia is a key market, we expect pre-orders to be available locally shortly after the global event. In case you missed it, the current Honor View 20 is now priced from RM1,799 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model and RM2,199 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option.
