While the Galaxy Fold has hit a snag, it appears that Motorola might be releasing their foldable device soon. The Motorola Razr is expected to be released this year and the folks at PhoneArena have obtained a couple of renders of the upcoming throwback device.
While other manufacturers are using the foldable display as a way to deliver a tablet experience, Motorola is staying true to the original with its familiar flip phone form factor. Instead of a screen and a keypad, the new Razr is expected to get a long 6.2″ display that comes with a 22:9 aspect ratio.
From the picture below, it appears that the new Razr’s display will get a notch to house the earpiece and selfie camera. At the bottom of the display, it has a thick bump which is similar to the old school RAZR V3.
While it isn’t shown here, the Motorola Razr for 2019 is also expected to come with a secondary 600×800 display on the cover which gives you access to notification and widgets. According to PhoneArena, it appears that the Razr will not feature a front-facing camera on the inside, which means that you’ll have to use the rear camera aided by the secondary display if you’re planning to take selfies.
Based on earlier specs from XDA Developers, the Razr is expected to run on a Snapdragon 710 processor with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. The battery is expected to be a rather small 2,730mAh unit but it will support Motorola’s 27W TurboPower fast charging.
If you look at the first image above, it looks like there’s a special charging dock for the Razr. Also included in the fancy box is a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter, which means that there’s no headphone jack with this Razr.
The Razr is speculated to be priced around US$1,500 which is about RM6,200.
