The Samsung Galaxy S10 series is the first smartphone to introduce an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor on the display. While it provides better reliability than an optical based fingerprint sensor, it still isn’t as fast as a traditional capacitive sensor.
If you wished that the fingerprint unlocking can get a little bit quicker, it appears that Samsung has made some improvements with its latest software update. The update is less than 10MB in size and it’s all about the fingerprint sensor.
After updating our unit, it seems that the fingerprint sensor is slightly faster than before. It looks like Samsung has optimised the fingerprint ripple effect as the screen lights up and we can even unlock the device when we quickly tap and lift our finger from the screen.
Of course, you will still need to position your finger at the right spot, which can be tricky if you’re trying to unlock without looking at the device. Have you updated your Galaxy S10 and S10+? Let us know if the in-display fingerprint sensor is quicker for you in the comments below.
