This quad-camera Samsung smartphone has the same DxOMark score as the P30 Pro

Huawei’s recent flagships have been leading the DxoMark Mobile ranking for quite some time now. First, it was the P20 Pro and now they have raised the bar higher with the P30 Pro which scored 112 points.

Now it appears that Huawei has worthy challenger to share the #1 spot and it’s the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G edition.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is a much bigger device with a 6.7″ Infinity-O display and it gets a massive 4,500mAh to power its big screen and 5G radios. Unlike the Galaxy S10+, the 5G edition gets a total of four cameras instead of three for the rear.

The device gets a 12MP f/1.5-f/2.4 main camera, a 12MP f/2.4 telephoto lens, a 16MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera and it gets an extra Time of Flight (ToF) camera for depth sensing.

According to DxoMark, the Galaxy S10 5G scored 117 points for Photo. For video, the Galaxy S10 5G is the highest at the moment with 100 points, beating the Mi 9’s 99 score for the same video category.

Overall, the S10 5G gets a final score of 112, which is similar to the P30 Pro. As a comparison, the P30 Pro does better in photos with 119 while the video department scored 97.

In their tests, the Galaxy S10 5G had performed better than the Galaxy S10+ and it shoots video in 4K by default. They also mentioned that the extra ToF sensor allow better bokeh effects in video and it offers improved performance for depth-sensitive AR applications, however, this aspect does not affect the overall score.
