Honor 20’s purported specs revealed and it’s similar to the Huawei P30

After introducing the Honor View20 a few months ago, the smartphone maker is expected to introduce yet another flagship smartphone very soon. The next device is highly like to be the Honor 20, which can be seen as a value for money alternative to Huawei’s top of the line models.

According to several speculations on Weibo, the Honor 20 will feature a 6.1″ OLED display with a water drop notch that houses a 32MP front selfie camera. It runs on a top of the line Kirin 980 processor with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB of storage. It is also likely to feature an in-display fingerprint sensor as well.

In the imaging department, it is alleged that the Honor 20 will get a triple-camera setup consisting of a 48MP + 20MP + 8MP array and it offers 3X optical zoom. It is also speculated that the Honor 20 might use a Sony IMX600 sensor instead of the IMX586 unit that’s currently used on the View20. Similar to the P30, it is also alleged that it has a 3,650mAh battery that supports 22.5W SuperCharge via USB-C.

Interestingly, GSMArena has obtained what appears to be images of the Honor 20’s case. Looking at the cutout, it has a vertical camera layout which is similar to the Huawei P30. There’s also an extended cutout which could be used for flash and other sensors. Since the Honor View20 has a 3D ToF camera, there’s a possibility that it could be retained on the Honor 20 as well.

Word has it that the device could be priced from 2,999CNY (about RM1,830) for the base 6GB RAM + 128GB model and it could go up to 3,799CNY (about RM2,318) for the high spec 8GB RAM + 256GB model. As a comparison, the current Honor View20 is officially priced at RM1,999 for 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and RM2,499 for 8GB RAM + 256GB storage in Malaysia. Do note that these are still rumours at the moment but looking at the past flagships from Honor, this is no doubt a budget alternative to Huawei’s P series.
