This is how Samsung could avoid the notch on the Galaxy A90

The Samsung Galaxy A Unpacked event is happening next week and the star of the show is expected to be its new Galaxy A90. On the current Galaxy A series for 2019, the devices feature an Infinity V or Infinity U notch but the top of the line Galaxy A model will come with a notchless Infinity Display.

Several render images of the purported Galaxy A90 has appeared online which gives us an illustration of what to expect. Since there’s no space left at the top, the Galaxy A90 is shown here with a full slider mechanism which is somewhat similar to the Oppo Find X with a little twist at the top.

From the render, we can see that the rear cameras are fitted on the upper part of the device which can slide up. Unlike the Oppo Find X, the rear cameras are visible at all times, which allows you to take normal photos without activating the slider mechanism. You also won’t need to slide up to answer a phone call since the earpiece speaker is placed at the top edge of the screen. Judging by the way it slides up, we reckon it should be motorised like the Find X.

To take a selfie, the upper part will slide-up which allows the rear cameras to rotate to the front. This is somewhat similar to Oppo’s N series from 5 years ago. While the Galaxy A50 and A70 feature a triple-camera setup, it appears that the Galaxy A90 will come with just two shooters based on these renders.

The Galaxy A90 is also illustrated with an in-display fingerprint sensor. Do note that these are unofficial renders and the actual device might turn out to be very different.

According to prominent leakster Ice Universe, the renders are “almost completely correct”, so there’s a possibility that these renders are close to the real deal. Since it uses the same rear camera for the front, this could mean better selfie cameras with the possibly an ultra-wide-angle camera and 4K front video recording.

What do you think of the Galaxy A90’s pop-up and rotating camera mechanism? Let us know in the comments below.
