This is the Oppo Reno and it has an all-screen display without notches or punch-holes

Oppo Reno Official photos

Oppo will be unveiling its all-new Reno smartphone series next week. It isn’t a sub-brand but it’s a new lineup that appears to be designed for the fashion conscious. Ahead of its event, the Reno has already appeared on Oppo’s official store on JD.com.

The product listing provides a good view of the Reno and it comes in four different gradient colour options. In front, it features an edge to edge display which is similar to the Oppo Find X, however, it comes with a flat display instead of a dual-curved unit.

Interesting, the back only comes with two cameras that are lined up vertically in the middle. From what we can see, it doesn’t seem to come with a 10X lossless zoom that uses a periscope module. Perhaps there will be a number of Reno smartphones and what we are seeing here is just the standard model.

There are no specs yet but the page did tease a couple of features including a 48MP camera with super clear pixels and a panoramic screen, which is the same marketing term to describe the screen on the Oppo F11 Pro. The device also comes with NFC and it will support VOOC 3.0 flash charging.

With an all-screen design, we can be certain that it will definitely feature a pop-up selfie camera. The question is, will it be a full pop-up slider like the Find X or will it use a pop-up front camera mechanism like the F11 Pro? Based on a couple of leaked images and videos, it appears that Reno will be adopting an unconventional pop-up design that comes out at an angle. You can see it in action below:

The Oppo Reno will be announced on the 10th April 2019 in China. The device will definitely come to Malaysia as it has already passed our local SIRIM certification. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out the official teaser video below:
